Inaugurated in 2022, CellEAST is Romania’s first international festival dedicated to the cello. Held every year in May, CellEAST highlights the strengths of this seemingly sober instrument, but which surprises with its ability to adapt to the most diverse musical styles. The festival’s symphony and chamber concerts offer repertoires beloved by audiences, as well as less familiar works, played by famous Romanian and international musicians.
At the Romanian Athenaeum, during the 2025–2026 Season, we present a series of events organized under the auspices of the CellEAST Festival and the CellEAST International Competition, dedicated to the cello and the rich sonic universe this instrument can create.
The audience will have the opportunity to listen to representative works from the cello repertoire, world premieres, dedicated compositions, as well as arrangements specially conceived for various cello ensembles. CellEAST brings renowned artists to the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, offering the public the chance to discover the beauty, expressiveness, and depth of this instrument.
